Benefits rate for bereaved parents
Two parents are paid a benefit at the rate of 80.6% of the wage of a civil servant at the 19th degree of the administrative rating - NIS 8,767.42
A single parent is paid a benefit at the rate of 80% of that paid to two parents - NIS 7,013.93
The amounts are updated according to the changes in civil servants' wages (following labour agreements and cost of living increments) or when it is made clear, in a periodic examination conducted once every six months, that the benefit amount has suffered an erosion compared with the average wages of employees in the public-communal service.
Benefit increment for victim's siblings
An increment is paid for every sibling of a victim up to 22 years of age who is supported by the bereaved parent, as detailed below
For a single sibling – 20% of the benefit paid to two parents - NIS 1,753.48 .
For every additional sibling – 11% of the benefit paid to two parents - NIS 964.42 .

Benefit to a bereaved parent facing widowhood
A bereaved parent whose family status is widower, and who reaches compulsory retirement age (67 for men), he or she will receive a increment for coverage of special needs amounting to NIS 1,452 per month.
When parents receive a benefit as a couple of bereaved parents, and one of them dies, the widowed bereaved parent will continue to receive the benefit for a couple of bereaved parents for a three months period following the death. Afterwards, the benefit is reduced to the amount set forth for a single parent. When the bereaved parent reaches compulsory retirement age (age 67), he will be paid the increment for coverage of special needs automatically.
Lack of income benefit to bereaved parents
Bereaved parents whose income from any source – excluding old age pension, survivor pension up to the amount of an old age pension, child allowance, periodic payments received as compensation for health damages resulting from Nazi persecution, general disability pension under the National Insurance Law, disability pension paid under the Disability Law (except special payments) and pensions paid under the Fallen Soldiers' Families Law – do not exceed NIS 500 a month for two parents or NIS 400 a month for a single parent, shall be entitled to an increment up to the amount of the monthly benefit.
Benefit to a bereaved parent married to a non-bereaved parent
The benefit paid to such a parent is of the amount of that paid to a bereaved couple parents. However, ancillary benefits are paid exclusively to the bereaved parent, and no benefits are paid to a non-bereaved spouse.
In case of death of the bereaved parent - the non-bereaved spouse will receive payment of the benefit for a couple of bereaved parents - NIS 8,767.42 , for 3 months (as of the month following that of the death).
If a deceased bereaved parent was married at least 3 years prior to his/her demise to a non-bereaved spouse, that spouse shall be entitled (as long as not re-married) to a benefit at the rate of the difference between his/her income and the benefit paid to a single parent, NIS 7,013.93 , on condition that he or she is not remarried.
If the spouse's income (from any source) reaches or exceeds the amount of the benefit paid to a single parent, no exceeds will be paid to that spouse, as aforesaid.
Benefit to separated bereaved parents
The National Insurance Institute is authorized to pay each of the separated bereaved parents the benefit due to a single parent (80% of the benefit paid to two parents).
